I'm an English Literature graduate. I have a basic though incidental knowledge of philosophy, of things that have been necessary to read or have particularly interested me in my literary studies, and I am keen to learn more.
I focused my studies on medieval literature, so from an academic perspective I am particularly interested in the interplay of theology and philosophy in medieval thought. I really enjoyed Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy. From a personal perspective, I am really intrigued by suffering (again rooted in links to my research about medieval Christian ideals) and its effects on humans. What I hope to gain from joining a society like this is a more general knowledge of philosophy from which I can explore my current interests, and hopefully find new interests along the way!
