Happy new year LPC members!
We hope you enjoyed last year's events. We're putting together this year's programme of speakers, talks, debates and workshops. We've got some great events lined up, including some summer festival events at Hay in June and Port Eliot in August.
We'll post news of our January event soon, and information on further speakers and events for later in the year. As usual, get in touch if you have a particular speaker or topic you'd like us to set up- or if you'd like to run an event or workshop for LPC members yourself. We're always looking for volunteers to help us run the LPC, so if you want to get more involved in organising events, get in touch.
In the meantime, here are some events happening in London in January which LPC members might enjoy:
On Monday 16th, Tali Sharot, the American psychologist, is giving a talk on optimism at the School of Life. There are still some tickets available, here. Afterwards, at 10pm, she's discussing the book on BBC Radio 3 with Matthew Sweet, presenter of The Philosopher's Arms, and Jules Evans, co-organiser of the LPC.
The Idler Academy has an event on the idealist philosophy of Berkeley on the evening of the 16th, on Kant and the meaning of enlightenment on Monday 23rd, and on David Hume and the philosophy of religion on Monday the 30th. You can buy tickets here.
On Tuesday 24th, Roy Baumeister, the American psychologist, is giving a talk at the LSE. He's perhaps the world expert on the psychology of self-control, so might be able to help you carry on with the New Year resolutions. You can sign up here.
On Sunday January 29 at Occupy London's 'Tent City University' , psychoanalyst Darian Leader and others are discussing the politics of psychotherapy in a free event called 'Occupy the Couch'. Sign up here, or just turn up.
If LPC members go to these events, post before hand on our discussion board and attending members can meet up and go for a beer afterwards.
Somewhere amid all those events, we'll hold a January event too!

All best
